True Peace and Freedom

Amid the Turmoil of a Fallen World

Welcome to Living With Babel

“The Way” to true peace and freedom for all of mankind, was proclaimed by Jesus Christ almost 2000 years ago.  “The Way” is more than just God’s promise of saving us from eternal separation from Him after we die here on earth(i.e., what people refer to as Hell), by believing in His Son, Jesus Christ:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.”  John 3:16-17

“The Way” saves us from being trapped in the empty promises of the world, while we live here on earth (i.e., The never-ending quest for money, comfort, happiness, and fulfillment).  “The Way” is to see ourselves as we truly are: fallen creations who are still so loved by God that He shows us compassion and mercy, despite our hatred of Him.  “The Way” is the growing of the seed planted by God which leads us to ever-increasing faith in Him who created us, to His objective truth, to a deeper loving relationship with Him, and to reliance on His power over the universe.

Therefore, as Jesus proclaimed, “The Way” leads us to God (our Father, our Creator):

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father (God) but through me.”  John 14:6

Jesus also quoted the prophet Isaiah, who prophesied of his coming, some 700 years before Jesus was even born:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners;”  Isaiah 61:1

In these three passages of the Bible, we have the essence of why Jesus was sent and what he came to do.

All of us are the afflicted, the brokenhearted, the captives, and the prisoners, because we are all subject to the deception of our nature that leads us to place our faith and sense of happiness in our wealth, our physical health, our relationships, our societal freedoms, and ultimately, in ourselves and the world around us.  We seek wealth, happiness, power, and fulfillment in the world, only to find that these things provide fleeting glimpses of the peace and freedom we truly seek.

However, the truth is, that without believing in, and relying on, God, His power, and objective truth, our days here on earth are filled with anxiety and worry over how we will keep the wealth, security, power, and fulfillment we have strived for.

Jesus said:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

The yoke that Jesus referred to is not enslavement to a distant deity (i.e. a “Religion”), nor to a philosophy we hope will make our lives better (i.e. Life improvement)–These are what make us “weary and heavy-laden” because they don’t solve our core problem, which is that we are powerless to save ourselves, powerless to find genuine meaning in our lives without God.

Instead, his yoke is understanding who God truly is, seeing God’s love for us (which is why He created us), and believing in Him.  His yoke is “easy” and his “burden is light” because it frees us from the empty promises the world offers, and instead, leads us to joyfully love God and abide in His truth with all our heart, and with all our strength (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37).

Living with Babel’s aim is to show the truth of who we are as human beings, and who God is as our creator.  Together, we can understand why belief in God and His Son, is not enslavement to a cold, distant deity, but a reuniting with our Father, and a brotherhood with Jesus, who want to set us free from the worthlessness of another manmade philosophy.  “The Way” is the key to finding true peace and freedom in a fallen world.
